Position Overview

The Busser is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the dining room while supporting the front-of-house team in delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Reporting to the Full Service Restaurant Team Lead, this role prepares and resets tables, assists with guest needs, replenishes dining room supplies, and works closely with Restaurant Servers, Food Runners, Hosts, Bartenders, and the Culinary Team to ensure efficient restaurant operations.

Areas of Stewardship

Guest Experience Stewardship

The Busser is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment that enhances every guest's experience.

Responsibilities include:

Promptly clear and reset tables according to restaurant standards.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the dining room during service.
Refill water glasses and assist guests when appropriate.
Respond courteously to guest requests and communicate needs to Restaurant Servers.
Monitor dining areas to ensure guests enjoy a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Support a seamless dining experience through efficient table turnover.

Team Member Stewardship

Support Restaurant Servers during meal service.
Assist Food Runners with dining room readiness.
Communicate effectively with Hosts regarding table availability.
Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and operational briefings.
Foster teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment.

Operational Stewardship

Prepare dining areas before service begins.
Maintain cleanliness of tables, chairs, service stations, and guest areas.
Replenish service supplies, including utensils, napkins, condiments, and beverages as assigned.
Assist with opening, side work, and closing responsibilities.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
Report maintenance or operational concerns promptly.

Financial Stewardship

Help maximize seating availability through efficient table turnover.
Protect restaurant equipment and dining room furnishings.
Minimize waste by handling supplies responsibly.
Support operational efficiency through organized dining room maintenance.

Cross-Functional Stewardship

Coordinate with Restaurant Servers to maintain dining room flow.
Support Food Runners during high-volume service.
Communicate with Venue Services regarding cleanliness concerns.
Assist with restaurant events and special functions.
Promote collaboration across all restaurant operations.

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Preferred

Previous experience as a Busser or Dining Room Attendant.
Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
Knowledge of restaurant service standards.
Experience supporting front-of-house restaurant operations.

Working Conditions

This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

The role requires extended periods of standing and walking while working in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Frequent lifting, carrying, and movement throughout the dining room are required to support efficient restaurant operations.
