Position Overview

The Restaurant Host is responsible for creating a positive first and last impression for every guest visiting the Full Service Restaurant.

Reporting to the Full Service Restaurant Team Lead, this role manages reservations, coordinates guest seating, maintains the flow of the dining room, and provides exceptional hospitality from arrival to departure. The Restaurant Host works closely with Servers, Food Runners, Bussers, Bartenders, and restaurant leadership to ensure every guest enjoys a seamless dining experience.

Areas of Stewardship

Guest Experience Stewardship

The Restaurant Host is responsible for creating a welcoming, organized, and memorable arrival experience for every guest.

Responsibilities include:

Warmly greeting guests upon arrival.
Managing reservations and waitlists efficiently.
Escorting guests to their tables.
Providing accurate wait time expectations.
Assisting with guest inquiries.
Thanking guests and inviting them to return.

Team Member Stewardship

Communicate table availability with Servers and Restaurant Leadership.
Support team members during busy service periods.
Participate in daily pre-shift meetings.
Promote teamwork and professionalism.
Foster a welcoming and collaborative work environment.

Operational Stewardship

Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance.
Monitor dining room flow to maximize seating efficiency.
Coordinate guest seating to balance server sections.
Assist with opening and closing responsibilities.
Ensure menus and guest materials remain clean and presentable.
Report operational concerns to leadership promptly.

Financial Stewardship

Maximize seating efficiency to support restaurant capacity.
Help reduce guest wait times through effective table management.
Protect restaurant equipment and guest materials.
Support operational efficiency through organized reservation management.

Cross-Functional Stewardship

Communicate effectively with the Culinary Team regarding seating flow.
Coordinate with Venue Services to maintain a welcoming entrance.
Support Guest Experience initiatives.
Collaborate with restaurant leadership to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous customer service experience preferred.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Friendly, professional, and welcoming demeanor.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Preferred

Previous experience as a Restaurant Host or in a hospitality environment.
Familiarity with reservation or table management systems.
Experience using POS or restaurant technology systems.
Knowledge of hospitality service standards.

Working Conditions

This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

The role requires extended periods of standing and walking while working in a fast-paced, guest-facing hospitality environment.
