We’re seeking an Accounting Officer – Treasury, Payables and Fixed Assets who brings accuracy, organization, and sound judgment to reconciliations, financial records, and recurring reporting deadlines.
This role suits someone who enjoys investigating differences, maintaining clear supporting documentation, and helping ensure transactions and assets are properly accounted for.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will reconcile credit card settlements and bank accounts, administer approved cash floats, reconcile payables, maintain the fixed asset register, compile VAT return information, and complete assigned month-end procedures.
You will also participate in inventory counts and support general ledger reconciliations. Your work will help keep cash, banking, supplier, tax, asset, and accounting records accurate, controlled, and ready for review.

What You’ll Do
Credit Card & Bank Reconciliations
Reconcile credit card sales and settlements to point-of-sale reports, processor statements, bank deposits, fees, chargebacks, and general ledger postings.
Investigate delayed settlements, duplicate or missing transactions, fee differences, chargebacks, and other exceptions.
Maintain a clear record of outstanding issues and their resolution.
Prepare timely reconciliations for assigned bank accounts.
Resolve outstanding deposits, payments, transfers, fees, and other reconciling items.
Escalate aged, unusual, unsupported, or potentially fraudulent items according to Finance procedures.
Cash Floats & Treasury Controls
Prepare, disburse, record, and account for approved cash floats using documented authorization and custody procedures.
Obtain signed acknowledgments and track float returns.
Reconcile balances and report shortages, overages, or delayed returns promptly.
Maintain secure custody and accurate records for cash and banking documents within your responsibility.
Provide settlement, bank, payable, and disbursement information to support cash-flow visibility when requested.
Payables & VAT Support
Reconcile the accounts payable subledger to supplier statements and the general ledger.
Investigate duplicate, missing, unmatched, and aged items.
Verify that invoices, credit notes, payment records, and supplier adjustments are supported, approved, correctly coded, and recorded in the appropriate period.
Compile VAT return information and supporting schedules for review, including relevant input and output VAT records and exceptions.
Maintain organized vendor, VAT, payment, and reconciliation records for review, filing, and audit purposes.
Fixed Assets & Inventory
Maintain the fixed asset register, including approved additions, transfers, disposals, classifications, locations, custodians, useful lives, and depreciation information.
Reconcile the asset register to the general ledger.
Support physical asset verification and impairment or disposal reviews.
Participate in scheduled and ad hoc inventory counts.
Complete count documentation and help investigate differences.
Ensure asset and inventory adjustments have approved supporting documentation before posting.
General Ledger & Month-End Close
Prepare and post approved journal entries.
Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations with supporting schedules.
Perform assigned bank, card, payables, fixed asset, VAT, inventory, and cash-float close procedures within the Finance timetable.
Maintain current workpapers and respond accurately to management review, control testing, and audit requests.
Follow financial policies, approval limits, segregation of duties, statutory requirements, record-retention standards, and confidentiality expectations.

This role has no formal supervisory responsibilities. You may assist with process orientation, inventory counts, or temporary task coordination when assigned.
What You’ll Bring
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least two years of relevant accounting experience in a comparable role.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls, and applicable financial and VAT requirements.
Strong numerical reasoning, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
Accuracy, attention to detail, and disciplined document management.
The ability to organize competing deadlines and complete recurring close activities on time.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Integrity, confidentiality, and sound professional judgment.
Advantageous
Professional certification or active progression toward ACCA, CPA, or a comparable qualification.
Proficiency with QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or a comparable accounting system, together with strong Microsoft Excel capability.
Experience in hospitality, food and beverage, retail, multiple-entity operations, or another environment with a high volume of transactions.
What Success Looks Like
Card sales, deposits, fees, and chargebacks are reconciled promptly, with exceptions resolved or escalated.
Assigned bank reconciliations meet deadlines and include complete support.
Supplier balances agree to the subledger and general ledger.
Duplicate, aged, and unmatched payable items are investigated.
Fixed asset records are current, supported, physically verifiable, and reconciled.
VAT schedules are complete, traceable, and ready by review deadlines.
Assigned reconciliations, entries, schedules, and workpapers are completed accurately within the close calendar.
Our Environment
Work is primarily office-based, with extended computer use and recurring deadlines. You may also move throughout operational areas, participate in early-morning or after-hours inventory counts, and undertake occasional banking or records-related activities.
Additional hours may be required during month-end, year-end, audits, and statutory filing periods. The role includes occasional handling of files, count materials, or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be considered where applicable.
