Position Overview
The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to guests quickly, accurately, and professionally while supporting the overall flow of restaurant operations.
Reporting to the Full Service Restaurant Team Lead, this role serves as the vital connection between the Culinary Team and the front-of-house team, ensuring every meal is presented beautifully, delivered promptly, and meets Harvest in the Gardens' quality standards. Food Runners work closely with Restaurant Servers, Bartenders, Bussers, Hosts, and the Culinary Team to create a seamless dining experience.

Areas of Stewardship
Guest Experience Stewardship
The Food Runner is responsible for ensuring guests receive their meals promptly, accurately, and with exceptional presentation.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver food to the correct guests in a timely and professional manner.
- Verify each order for accuracy before leaving the kitchen.
- Present meals confidently while identifying menu items when appropriate.
- Respond courteously to guest requests and communicate them to the appropriate team member.
- Monitor guest needs and assist the service team when necessary.
- Help create a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.
Team Member Stewardship
- Work collaboratively with Restaurant Servers and the Culinary Team to maintain efficient service.
- Communicate food readiness and order updates.
- Assist fellow team members during busy service periods.
- Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and operational briefings.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and accountability.
Operational Stewardship
- Ensure food is delivered according to Harvest presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations and expo areas.
- Assist with table maintenance when appropriate.
- Support opening, side work, and closing responsibilities.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
- Report operational concerns to restaurant leadership promptly.
Financial Stewardship
- Help reduce food waste by ensuring accurate order delivery.
- Protect food quality through timely service.
- Handle restaurant equipment with care.
- Support operational efficiency by maintaining smooth communication between the kitchen and dining room.
Cross-Functional Stewardship
- Coordinate closely with the Culinary Team during meal service.
- Communicate effectively with Restaurant Servers regarding order status.
- Support Bussers in maintaining dining room readiness when needed.
- Assist with special events and high-volume service periods.
- Foster collaboration across all restaurant operations.

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Food Runner or in a full-service restaurant.
- Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Knowledge of food presentation and service standards.
- Familiarity with restaurant operations and guest service expectations.
Working Conditions
This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
The role requires extended periods of standing and walking while working in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Frequent movement between the kitchen and dining room is required throughout each shift.
