Position Overview

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving handcrafted non-alcoholic beverages, including mocktails, specialty beverages, soft drinks, coffees, teas, fresh juices, smoothies, and seasonal creations while delivering exceptional hospitality to guests dining at the bar and throughout the restaurant.

Reporting to the Full-Service Restaurant Team Lead, this role ensures every beverage is prepared accurately, consistently, and efficiently while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming bar environment. The Bartender works closely with Restaurant Servers, Food Runners, Hosts, and the Culinary Team to deliver a seamless dining experience that reflects the hospitality standards of Harvest in the Gardens.

Areas of Stewardship

Guest Experience Stewardship

The Bartender is responsible for creating an engaging, welcoming, and memorable beverage experience for every guest.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcome guests warmly and provide exceptional hospitality.
  • Prepare and serve handcrafted mocktails, specialty beverages, coffees, teas, fresh juices, smoothies, soft drinks, and seasonal beverage offerings according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Recommend signature beverages and assist guests in selecting beverages that complement their meals.
  • Customize beverages when appropriate to enhance the guest experience.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests.
  • Maintain exceptional beverage presentation and consistency.
  • Build positive guest relationships through professional, attentive, and personalized service.

Team Member Stewardship

  • Work collaboratively with Restaurant Servers to ensure timely beverage service.
  • Communicate effectively with the Culinary Team and restaurant leadership.
  • Support fellow team members during busy service periods.
  • Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and menu briefings.
  • Foster teamwork, professionalism, and a guest-first culture.

Operational Stewardship

  • Prepare and stock the beverage station before each shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar area.
  • Monitor beverage inventory and notify leadership when replenishment is needed.
  • Prepare beverages according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and beverage preparation standards.
  • Complete opening, side work, and closing duties accurately.
  • Properly clean and maintain beverage equipment, coffee machines, blenders, glassware, and service utensils.

Financial Stewardship

  • Promote featured beverages, signature mocktails, and seasonal offerings through suggestive selling.
  • Prepare beverages accurately to minimize waste.
  • Follow cash-handling and POS procedures.
  • Protect inventory through proper portion control and accountability.
  • Support profitability through efficient beverage operations and inventory management.

Cross-Functional Stewardship

  • Coordinate with Restaurant Servers to maintain efficient beverage service.
  • Communicate beverage availability with restaurant leadership.
  • Support special events and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with Venue Services to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Foster strong teamwork across all restaurant operations.

Bartenders are expected to demonstrate exceptional hospitality, professionalism, beverage craftsmanship, creativity, and sound judgment in every guest interaction. Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, food service, beverage preparation, café operations, or restaurant service preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of beverage preparation, food safety, sanitation, and guest service standards.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a full-service restaurant, café, coffee shop, juice bar, or upscale beverage operation.
  • Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience using POS systems.
  • Experience preparing espresso beverages, specialty coffees, mocktails, smoothies, fresh juices, and handcrafted signature beverages.
  • Knowledge of beverage presentation, flavor profiles, garnish techniques, and food pairings.

Working Conditions

This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

The role requires extended periods of standing and walking while working in a fast-paced, guest-facing hospitality environment.
